^What is a city card?
A city card is a memory chip card used to pay fares in public transport in the cities of Hradec Králové and Pardubice. Gradually, however, it will become a means of payment for various services and events provided and organized by the city, such as parking, admission to social, cultural and sports events, entry to the landfill areas of Technical Services, etc. Its advantages in the future will also include the possibility of paying fares within the integrated transport system with the participation of other carriers in the region.
The client can now use the city card as a library card for the Education and Research Library in Hradec Králové, using all the services that the library offers to registered readers. At present, it is also possible to use the city card when entering the summer swimming pool Flošna, the year-round open Wellness Studio Flošna and to enter the Municipal Spa-Aquacenter and Swimming Pool 50 m and to identify the reader to the Library of the City of Hradec Králové.
The City Card can be issued in the following forms:
a. PERSONAL CARD – means a City Card that identifies its holder and issuer through identification data. This data can be recorded on the card by flat print or only electronically in the card memory. The card, made of plastic, has a size of approx. 85x54 mm. Inside the card is pressed chip and communication antenna. The card on the obverse side is equipped with the serial number of the card, the emblem of the statutory city of Hradec Králové, or a photograph and the name and surname of the holder. On the back page there is the publisher's logo and instructions for the holder with the name of the publisher. Personal data stated on the Personal Card and communicated when it is issued to the issuer are recorded by the issuer in its registration system.
b. FREE CARD - a non-personalized chip card is a type of portable City Card that does not contain data about the holder and is freely sold without the need to fill in the application for issue and communicate any personal data.
c. ANONYMOUS CARD – a type of non-transferable City Card for which no record of its holder is kept in the issuer's system (personal data are not collected). The card print contains personal data in the scope of name, surname, photograph, for the purpose of performing a ticket inspection.
^What are the benefits of checking in with chip cards in public transport?
- Speeding up and simplifying check-in
- possibility of travelling for a lower fare for a short distance (1 - 2 stops)
- possibility of transferring for a better fare (if the first of the two trips was not made for a discounted fare for a short distance)
- possibility of cashless payment of individual fares not only for the cardholder, but also for fellow passengers, always at a lower price than when using paper tickets
- possibility of cashless payment of individual fares in the public transport network in Pardubice (according to the Pardubice public transport tariff)
- possibility to transfer a valid season ticket and return the balance of funds on the electronic wallet to another card in the event of loss or theft of the card
- there is no need to issue a new paper counterfoil when the age limit for changing the discount category is reached and at the beginning of each school year (for students)
- possibility of charging the card in self-service vending machines (continuously)
- later the possibility of remote charging of the card cashless transfer from the account
- in the next stage , the possibility of cashless payment of fares with other carriers integrated into the system (Czech Railways, bus carriers) and payments for some services in city facilities
^How can I use the smart card?
The card can be "charged" as:
- a season ticket with an optional validity period, similar to the existing season tickets
- an electronic wallet, designed to pay for any individual ticket in the public transport network in Hradec Králové, not only for the cardholder, but also for fellow passengers - up to four in Hradec Králové
^What is an "e-wallet"?
The card includes an electronic chip that is used as memory. Part of this memory is used as an electronic wallet, in which it is recorded how much the passenger has deposited (charged) into the wallet and when paying from the wallet, individual payments are deducted from this credit.
^It is possible to use a single card for a season ticket and at the same time as an el. Wallet?
Yes, the card allows you to use both of these functions, which are independent of each other. Activation of both functions is performed automatically during card production and is included in the handling fee for card issuance.
^Which tickets can be charged to the card and which can be paid with the card?
Up to 4 different season tickets with a consequential, interrupted or overlapping period of validity can be uploaded to the City Card. If the necessary funds are deposited in the electronic wallet, the cardholder can pay up to 4 individual tickets for fellow passengers of any kind when boarding the vehicle, depending on the choice he makes on the touch screen by pressing the "Options for passengers" button. If the cardholder travels on individual tickets, the individual fare is always deducted from the wallet after boarding the vehicle and simply approaching the card to the reading zone (without any presets), corresponding to its category (full or discounted, or discounted transfer).
^How to get a chip card?
It is necessary to obtain the request form, either at ticket offices of the Hradec Králové Public Transport Company or on the www.dpmhk.cz website . The completed form will then be handed over together with one photo of the ID format and a handling fee at one of the DPmHK stores, where he will be notified when his card will be ready for collection.

^How does check-in in public transport vehicles work?
Check-in is practically the same as before - boarding public transport vehicles during working days is possible through all doors, in the evening, on non-working days and in the second zone through the front door with the driver's card validity check. Passengers with a season ticket at the time of boarding through all doors present the card only at the ticket inspection (ticket revision). This is also the same as the current practice. The card is not removed from the case at all and it is usually possible to leave it stored in the wallet during check-in.
^Is card acquisition mandatory?
No, it is not, but season tickets can only be purchased on the City Card or via the HopOn mobile application from 1 January 2006. Individual cash fares (i.e. without the City Card) can be paid to the driver in the future, but at a higher price.
^What has changed for older travelers, pensioners?
When travelling in public transport vehicles, passengers use the season ticket recorded on the card in the same way as the paper ticket before. From 1 January 2006, passengers over 65 years of age can also pay discounted individual fares in public transport vehicles by card.
^How should ZTP card holders behave?
All passengers who are entitled to free transportation, such as ZTP, ZTP-P card holders (including a guide or a dog), will continue to ride public transport in Hradec Králové free of charge and will show the same document as before, so they do not have to apply for a card.
^What is the most advantageous fare for pupils and students?
The assortment of discounted tickets usable for students has been extended since 1 January 2006 by discounted 6-month (calendar) tickets. The most advantageous time ticket for pupils and students is 12 months valid from 1.9. to 31.8. of the following year. A student can also purchase a one-year or half-yearly (calendar) discounted ticket if he/she has a valid I.S.I.C. card for the entire calendar year. Students cannot use individual discounted fares, even during the period of validity of the discount (which can only be applied to season tickets).
^How long will my card last before I need a new one?
The life of the card, according to the manufacturer, is 5 years with standard handling . This period can be individually extended according to the current status of individual cards after this period. On the contrary, the service life is shortened by handling the card contrary to the instructions for its use, including e.g. its bending when touching the reader.
^If a new card is needed, will it be paid for its issuance at the end of its life?
Yes, just like when renewing credit cards or personal documents. The warranty for the issued card is 24 months.
^I have a permanent residence outside Hradec Králové. Can I also get a card?
Yes, every citizen has the opportunity to apply for a card, regardless of residence.
^What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?
It is possible to block the card. This prevents the drawing of funds from the electronic wallet and misuse of the season ticket, and these funds and the season ticket can then be "played" to a new card. Blocking is carried out in person at DPmHK sales points. If the applicant has stated the password for blocking on the application, it is possible to block by phone at 495 089 271.
^What password can I choose to block my card?
The password can be any series of alphanumeric characters (letters, numbers, or a combination of these) between 4 and 23 characters without spaces. There is no need to be case-sensitive.
^How can I check when my season ticket expires on my card or how much money I have left in my electronic wallet?
Each cardholder can check the card status (validity of the season ticket, expiry of the discount claim, end of card validity, electronic wallet balance, time for transfer to the next connection to apply a discounted transfer fare, and other data) on the screen of any reader in a public transport vehicle at any time by pressing the "INFO" field on the touch screen and bringing the card closer to the sensor. The balance status or validity of the season ticket can also be checked in our e-shop.
^What is changing about VYDIS?
With the introduction of the City Card in Hradec Králové, nothing has changed in the VYDIS system, only that DPmHK will no longer issue paper public transport passes, which Czech Railways have so far accepted as proof of entitlement to use the one-day discounted or seven-day and thirty-day VYDIS civic tickets.
