The services provided at the Mass Transport Terminal in Hradec Králové were supported by a subsidy from the budget of the Hradec Králové Region.
Terminál hromadné dopravy (THD) v Hradci Králové byl slavnostně uveden do provozu Dne 5.7.2008 . Stavba tohoto dopravního uzlu byla zahájena v srpnu roku 2006 . Terminál spolu s rekonstrukcí Riegrova náměstí před budovou Hlavního nádraží ČD definitivně vyřešil neuspokojivou situaci, kdy linková autobusová doprava byla odbavována na dvou oddělených místech a v prostoru před hlavním nádražím byla linková autobusová doprava odbavována společně s veškerou městskou hromadnou dopravou včetně odstavování vozidel .
With the construction of the terminal, bus traffic in Hradec Králové was centralized to one place where all traffic is routed, i.e. both public transport and line, regional and long-distance.
Equipment and services in THD
The mass transit terminal of Hradec Králové is designed in the form of two dominant buildings connected by the roof of the check-in areas.
These two buildings also define the designation of the check-in areas adjacent to the given building.
Building of urban public transport and building of line and long-distance bus transport.
Public transport (MHD) building
On the ground floor, the building is equipped with an information center with a comprehensive range of services and information related to urban public transport, such as ticket sales, information about public transport in Hradec Králové.
In addition, fast food and a ČS, a.s. ATM are available to passengers in the check-in hall. and public sanitary facilities and internet kiosk.
A machine for recharging public transport electronic cards is also installed in the hall for passengers. In a completely unconventional and very unusual way, the architect designed the workplace of the dispatcher of the entire terminal, which in the form of a stylized hot air balloon “floats” in the form of a glass ball above the heads of the passengers. The first floor of the public transport building is designed as a space for the operation of a catering business, for example a pizzeria.
Line and long-distance bus transport (DD) building
The ground floor of the DD building is equipped with the same information center as in the MHD building, with the only difference being that the information center provides information and services related to regular, long-distance and international transport.
In addition, fast food and public restrooms are available to passengers in the check-in hall, similarly to the public transport hall. An automatic luggage storage is also available to passengers in the check-in hall, and there is a swing machine for children. There is a cafe on the first floor of the building and two internet kiosks with free internet access are freely available for passengers. On the second floor of the DD building, there is a restaurant for about 30 people and sanitary facilities for the restaurant.
Information system of the Hradec Králové public transport terminal
Passengers are provided with large-scale display panels located above the entrance to both buildings and in the check-in halls for initial information.
These panels always show the nearest twelve departures of the respective mode of transport (public transport, scheduled transport).
In the lower part of the information panel located in the interior of the check-in hall, there are three LCD screens providing information on the nearest departures of ČD trains, departures of regular and long-distance bus services in the MHD building and in the long-distance transport building about the departures of municipal public transport.
The third screen is used in both buildings to display advertising spots.
Information about departures of individual connections also from electronic display panels. These panels are located on each platform.
Passengers have the opportunity to obtain information about departures also via the standard route from paper timetables posted on individual platforms.
In in case of emergency situations in transport, it is possible to display text notifications for passengers on all panels to inform them in time (delayed or missing train, etc.)
An audio system is also used to keep passengers informed.
