The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund
The main objective of the project is to substantially improve the quality of public transport in the regional city of Hradec Králové for the travelling public, especially for people with disabilities and mobility impairments (limited mobility and orientation), by purchasing new trolleybuses of 12 metres and 18 metres in length, so-called solo trolleybuses and articulated trolleybuses. These rail vehicles will be more environmentally friendly and the operation of the new trolleybuses is expected to make public transport more attractive for passengers, with the aim of at least maintaining or slightly gradually increasing the share of public transport in Hradec Králové.
The implementation of the project will mainly result in an increase in quality and safety for passengers using trolleybus transport in Hradec Králové. Furthermore, the average age of the trolleybus fleet will be significantly reduced, thus making the maintenance of the trolleybus fleet cheaper and better. Last but not least, the operating costs of these new vehicles will be reduced due to reduced electricity consumption and reduced requirements for repairs and maintenance. These vehicles have lower external and internal noise levels, which, together with the aforementioned lower electricity consumption, guarantees a positive impact on the environment. The implementation of the project will ensure an increase in the quality standard of public transport, while reducing the negative impact on the environment. The renewal of the fleet with new modern low-floor vehicles will make the public transport system in the city of Hradec Kralove more attractive and competitive.
Specific project objectives:
- increase safety for public transport passengers by purchasing more modern and technologically advanced vehicles
- increasing the attractiveness of public transport for passengers - increasing comfort by removing barriers to boarding by purchasing low-floor vehicles
- Renewal of the trolleybus fleet with qualitatively new 100% low-floor vehicles in both vehicle categories - 12-metre solo trolleybuses and 18-metre articulated trolleybuses
- by increasing the share of public transport in Hradec Králové's traffic to contribute to the improvement of the environment (better use of space, lower indoor and outdoor noise level of vehicles, modern design of vehicle interiors, reduced costs of operation and maintenance of these vehicles)
- reduce the average age of the trolleybus fleet
- to contribute to improving the image of the regional city of Hradec Králové as a modern city aiming at sustainable development and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants and the inhabitants of the surrounding region.
