New trolleybuses have arrived in Hradec Králové. The first ones will take passengers out within a few weeks

The Public Transit Company of the City of Hradec Králové today ceremoniously presented the first new Škoda 32Tr and 33Tr partial trolleybuses acquired as part of an extensive renewal of the trolleybus fleet. Four twelve-meter and two eighteen-meter articulated vehicles have already arrived in Hradec Králové, and after their preparation is completed, the first of them should appear in regular passenger service within the next three weeks.

„A year ago, we presented the results of the tender and the plan for the extensive renewal of the trolleybus fleet. Today, we already have the first new vehicles right here in Hradec Králové and are preparing them for deployment in regular service. For passengers, this is the most important moment of the entire investment – the new trolleybus fleet will gradually begin serving public transport lines directly.“ said Zdeněk Abraham, Director of the Hradec Králové City Transport Company.

The new trolleybuses are part of a framework contract with the Škoda Group, which the transport company concluded in September 2025. This allows for the gradual purchase of up to 31 vehicles. Under the IROP and ITI programs, subsidies can cover up to 85 percent of the original price of 18 vehicles.

All new vehicles are equipped with traction batteries, which enable them to operate even outside the overhead contact line network. The public transport company thus gains greater flexibility in deploying trolleybuses on individual lines as well as during service interruptions and emergencies.

Along with the new trolleybuses, a new exterior design concept for the vehicles of the Hradec Králové Public Transit Company is also being introduced for the future. Vertical stripes and a prominent application of the new city symbol will gradually appear on other newly acquired buses and trolleybuses. The information stickers and pictograms intended for passengers have also undergone a redesign.

Before the new trolleybuses carry passengers for the first time, they still face preparation at the transport company's facilities. This includes, among other things, the installation of the ticketing system and cameras, or the completion of other operational procedures. According to the current schedule, the first vehicles should appear on regular Hradec Králové public transit lines within three weeks.
