On Car Free Day, September 22nd, anyone with a driver's license will ride public transit for free

Hradec Králové is joining again this year European Mobility Week, which takes place from September 16 to 22, 2026, and highlights the possibilities of sustainable urban mobility. The Hradec Králové Public Transport Company will also actively participate in the program. On Tuesday, September 22, when the European Mobility Week culminates with In Town Without My Car! day, valid driver's license holders will be able to travel on Hradec Králové public transport for free all day long. In the afternoon, the transport company will also present itself to the public on Tylovo nábřeží, where it will have its information stand and a public transport vehicle on display.

Car-Free Day will take place on Tylo nábřeží between the Prague and Tyrš bridges from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Visitors can look forward to a varied program focused on various ways of getting around the city, safety, and active movement. Among other things, the event will feature presentations of bicycles and scooters, BESIP activities, musical performances, and a parkour show. At the public transport company's booth, visitors will be able to learn more about public transit in Hradec Králové and view an on-display vehicle.

European Mobility Week is a pan-European initiative that annually presents alternatives to individual car transport and promotes walking, cycling, and public transport. This year's edition carries the theme „Mobility for Everyone“ and in Hradec Králové will offer a number of additional events throughout the week. Free public transport for driver's license holders on Car-Free Day is intended to give motorists the opportunity to leave their car at home on September 22 and try traveling around the city by public transport.
